Score!

Korean food is awesome! Lunch and dinner are now major adventures, and I've tried all sorts of goodies, like kimchi mandu, sundubu jigae, and my favorite, bibimbap. Check it:

The raw egg probably doesn't look so appetizing, but the bowl is literally sizzling when they serve it to you. There's a bunch of rice under all of the veggies, so you stir it up really fast and the egg gets cooked by the hot bowl. It's spicy and wonderful!

My last two days have mostly been spent observing. I've met all of the kids I will be teaching and most of the other foreign teachers. Everyone has been great, answering my endless stream of questions and showing me everything from where to go grocery shopping and how to use the copy machine.

The kids are great. They all call me "Bethany Teacher", but since they add a vowel to the end of everything, it's more like "Bethany Teacher(a)", and it's very cute. They're English is incredibly impressive, especially considering my youngest students are only 3 and 4 years old! I didn't even realize this until one of my coworkers explained how Korean age works:
  • When you are born, you're one.
  • At the lunar New Year in February, you turn 2.
So if Brett were Korean, he would have been considered two in February even though he was less than two months old. This means that all of my students are really a year or two younger than I had anticipated.

Anyway, here is my classroom. It's pretty small, but my largest class is only seven students, so it isn't so bad!
